I can only describe it as a "Midnight Revival" that spans the bridge from the secular Saturday Night with its Devil's Music to the holy Sunday morning. It even comes with a hymn booklet with the lyrics of Jacob's testimony. For those unfamiliar, Skeen is a Salt Lake City one man band act. He was on his way to tour Italy before the Covid came down and destroyed his plans. Those who have seen him perform are probably familiar with his raw and loud sound. The album captures that but only more so. Far from a clean digital sound, the analogue recording has more in common with old punk records than most anything coming out today. If Jacob seeks to preach, it isn't in any holy temple. Like a true evangelical, he is bringing the good word directly to a sin filled underground of night clubs and juke joints. (John Whipple)

lyrics

Well I don’t know why,
every single tear that I cry,
That falls from my eye,
was shed because she had to die.
I don’t know why, why did she have to die.
Well I don’t know why, I don’t know why.

The preacher’s preaching and speaking his holy word,
and to the heavens a lamentful cry is heard.

Well I testify, of the one that was crucified,
that my soul will fly, on the day that my bones are dry.
I testify, of the one that 1.rides in the sky,
but still don’t know why, I don’t know why.

A life that ended on the night of December third.
The 2.unclean spirit, the beast and the hateful bird.

(Selah)

Well, by and by, the wicked will horrify,
both you and I, until we bid this earth our last goodbye.
By and by, the wicked will horrify,
but, still don’t know why, I don’t know why.

A life that ended on the night of December third,
and to the heavens a lamentful cry is heard.

Well, Lord she tried, ‘till the days of her death drew nigh,
to be justified, with the 3.heir to be glorified.
Lord, she tried, until the days of her death drew nigh,
but still don’t know why, I don’t know why.

I just don’t know why
I just don’t know why
